Filled with high quality eateries and dazzling shops, Brentwood is tucked away in the luscious green mountains of Santa Monica. The neighborhood offers a quiet, serene hideaway while staying conveniently close to the hustle and bustle of the Los Angeles area. It has a modest population of around 200,000 and a rich resident history of celebrities, Hollywood filmmakers, and business moguls. The neighborhood has a quiet and relaxed charm, while maintaining a host of well kept parks, gourmet restaurants, and luxury apparel outlets.

Brentwood Real Estate Insight

Brentwood is known for its safety and luxury, especially in such a perfect location: Residents enjoy a calm retreat balanced between the lush foothills of Santa Monica, the urban areas of LA county, and quick access to the beaches. Although the neighborhood is one of the most lavish and desired in the region, residents also enjoy ample privacy and a relaxed atmosphere. Brentwood is also a manageable distance from LAX, and a short drive from the shores of Malibu. The neighborhood is also relatively close to Hollywood, the Beverly Hills, and other major attractions.

The People and Lifestyle

Brentwood is home to a variety of residents, including well established families, Hollywood celebrities, and business professionals. The neighborhood’s layout is filled with walking paths, clean streets, and fine dining restaurants. The culture is very friendly and neighborly, while simultaneously maintaining privacy and a communal respect between residents. Brentwood has definitely figured out how to balance professionalism and leisure. Brentwood’s rich communal culture makes it home to many annual traditions between residents, like the raising of the maypole, holiday light decorations, and holiday parades. The neighborhood has an inviting vibe without interfering with everyday life.

Attractions

Many compare Brentwood’s shops and restaurants to that of a small, exclusive city. The neighborhood has a lot of different eating and shopping choices to choose from. For example, residents enjoy going to the Brentwood Country Market, built in 1948, in the heart of town. For a day out, residents can go to the farmers market or other nearby store for high quality, fresh produce. There’s also a string of italian restaurants and other high quality eating establishments throughout the premises.

Brentwood also offers a night life experience filled with comedy clubs, a movie theatre, and close access to Santa Monica. During the mornings, you’ll find joggers sporting high quality athletic wear along rolling paths that lead to dazzling beach views. On top of that, many residents choose to head to the J. Paul Getty museum, where you can admire fine art or enjoy one of their many gardens.

Restaurants

One of the shining jewels of Brentwood is the restaurant selection. No matter the occasion, or cuisine, there’s bound to be something for everyone. You’ll find yourself having a muffin at the bakery, going for a night out in one of the many italian restaurants, or trying something new from the Sushi restaurant or Indian buffet. There’s also no going wrong with some good old fashioned Steakhouse food at Baltaire.

Some of our favorite restaurants include:

  • Sugarfish - A classy sushi restaurant with a warm, friendly charm.
  • A.O.C - The iconic wine bar’s Brentwood location serves the best treats from California vineyards, as well as a long list of delectable snacks.
  • Toscana - The neighborhood Italian joint. This rustic classic has been serving residents genuine italian meals for over 30 years.
  • Farmshop - This neighborhood hangout is known for having chefs that care. Here, you can sit down and hear about how a dish was made.
  • Reddi Chick - A diner known for being American and old fashioned like Harrison Ford (a Brentwood resident).

Restaurants

Brentwood offers much more than the typical clothing store and restaurant experience. In fact, the community has a library, pharmacy, multiple fitness centers (that host barre and yoga classes), and many stores.

Around the historic Mart (which has over a dozen inner shops) you can find a cute little ice cream store, a Whole Foods, and a few cafes. Many stores exist around pristine plazas, often with elaborate fountains and charming park benches. However, it’s not hard to find your favorite contemporary brands and sports outlets. Athleisure is a common style here, and anyone in a designer track suit will fit right in.

Some of our favorite stores include:

  • Goop - This is like a one stop shop for cozy. You’ll find every knick knack from dining utensils to clothing, and everything in between.
  • Jennie Kayne - A cute market clothing store that’s always up to the latest trends.
  • Ron Herman - An apparel shop that specializes in exclusive wear for men and women, in any occasion.
  • Broken English - Jewelry, accessories, garments. This place has it all!
